Today I took a day trip to Stonehenge and Bath. We got on the bus at 7:55 AM and headed out to Stone henge after picking up other passengers we got out to Stone henge at 10:00 AM and walked around. Did you know that thousands of people go out to Stonehenge for the summer Solstice or the longest day of the year. Also there are thousands of myths about Stone henge why it was built who built it what it was used for and so on. The structure its self is amazing to look at with its big pillars and massive stones. It was also nice because it is in the middle of the country.

On the way to Bath we saw two things that were really interesting. One was a Blind house which is a devise for guards to keep prisoners on there way to London, because the prisoners would walk behind a horse tyed up, so they would need a place to keep them for the night. The other was the village of Ember This village looks very nice but it is not really a village during WWII it was vacated for the military so that the American solderers would have a real life situation in which to train. The people were told that this would only be for a couple of months and then they could move back in and to this day no one lives there because it is till a military facility where they go to do drills and the buildings are basically shells the only time the ancestors or remaining villagers can go to see the Church is on the first of September where they can go to the Church and pay there respects to the family in the villages graveyard. Unfortunately I did not get a picture of the village because the bus was going to fast.
Another interesting thing I saw were Canal boats which is how some people here live just riding up and down the canal these boats start at 240,000 pounds. one interesting thing about the landscape was this bright yellow flower that was everywhere called Rapeseed it is a major plant here in the UK and they use it for all there processed food. the other crops they have here are Wheat, Barley, Clover,and Mustard seed.

We got back on the bus and headed to Bath which is a city originally founded by the Romans for the hot springs and then found again by a prince named Bladud who contracted leprosy and was banished from his kingdom so he went to go get a job and the only job he could find was one of a pig Herder. He ended up having to sleep with his pigs who also caught his skin condition so he could not sell them at market and he and his pigs started to roam the land they found a place where there was really warm mud and lots of acorns and i guess pigs love acorns so they settled there and slowly the pigs got better. The prince noticed this and started to wallow in the mud as well and he got better, so then he went back to his kingdom and told the people about this magical mud and was named King and that was the second beginnings of Bath. After that Bath was a city and King George liked to go to Bath but wanted it to be more elegant so he hired John Wood Sr. to be the architecture of Bath and to make it "Fit for a King", so John Sr. took alot of inspiration from the original settlers of Bath the Romans and built lovely town houses for royalty. Lately there has been excavations of the Roman Baths and the town is a lovely pace to go for the day. After we saw the Roman Baths and explored around the town for a while we got back on the buss and made our way home.
